Choir Retreat

7 11 2007

Well, I am sitting on the couch finishing up my preparation for our annual choir retreat that starts tomorrow. I am especially excited about this trip because it’s always great to get the kids out of their normal routine of school and get to know them in a more personal atmosphere and really focus on our relationship with each other and with Christ. This year, I am going to share some of my burdens for the students as I have watched them over the past four years. This year’s senior class was my first 8th grade Bible class! Please pray for me and my wife as we go with the kids and seek to invest in their lives!

First Day of School!!!

3 09 2007

Well, it’s obvious that I haven’t update our blog for a while. That’s only because of how CRAZY things have been around the house in preparation for Nessa’s arrival and the first day of school, which is officially tomorrow! I am so ready to get started with this school year. There are so many things that I am excited about for school this year . . .

1. The school musical (“Beauty and the Beast”) starting in October
2. All-School Christmas Concert (December 9)
3. Our new traveling music/drama High School team, “One A’Chord”
4. Two middle school choirs (instead of my normal one HUGE choir), this will help me with crowd control.
5. No more choir in the small modular room! We will be meeting at our church now!!!! LOTS MORE ROOM!!!
6. Chapel Worship team!
7. High School Choir Tour to Washington D.C.!!! In the Spring we will be able to learn several patriotic songs and tour our nation’s capital.
8. New school BAND program!!

Those are just a few of the exciting things happening at school this year!

In our personal life . . . the doctor says we could have our baby at any time . . . though Sarah is not due until September 28. We are hoping that little Nessa comes a little early. Rennah is so excited about having a new little sister and we have been spending a lot of time getting the girls room ready!

For now, I am going to bed excited about seeing all of my kids at school again and ready to see what God has in store for us this year! Please keep us in your prayers! We love you all!

Choir Tour!!

3 05 2007

Well, in about two hours, I will be leaving with my 11th-12th Grade choir for our Choir Tour to Cincinnati, OH!! I am excited to get away with the students and have some fun with them. We are going to compete in a “Music in the Parks” competition there and go to Kings Island! I LOVE ROLLER COASTERS!! And I am very excited to ride some rides. Sarah took Rennah down to stay with her family for the weekend so that she can go with us. You can pray that we have a good weekend.

I obviously haven’t updated in a long while. And of course, that because we have been very busy. Over the last week or so, I have had both my elementary and secondary concert. Both of them went very well.

Next Wednesday, we have our first ultrasound and get to find out what we are having. We are so excited.

Other than that, things are going pretty well. I am sure that there is lots more to tell, but this is just a quick update to let you all know that we are still alive and happy. Hope everyone else out there is doing well. We love you all!

Cleaning out a Sewer Catastrophe!

15 03 2007

So yesterday I was assign an interesting job: supervising 5 high school guys to clean out a room that had been destroyed from a sewer backup! Talk about a dirty job! But we were able to make it as fun as possible. Our athletic office at the school had been flooded when a sewer drain backed up. Our job was to move everything out of the office and rip up the carpet so we can get it professionally cleaned. The only bad thing was that the smell affected my stomach in a very negative way after it was all over. I started having some intense cramping and upset feelings that were not very pleasant. Oh well, I guess all of this comes from the joy of being a small Christian School Teacher. I don’t just get to teach music and drama, but also clean out sewer messes. How exciting! Enjoy these fun pictures that we took during out cleaning job!
